  • Do you review pure claims systems?

  • Industry research often lacks insights into the operational characteristics. You know, scalability, security, etc. Are industry analysts and their "survey" RFP method doing the industry a disservice. We all know that insurance policy admin systems have to last for a very, very, very long time.

  • Hi Tom,

As one who has worked with PAS systems for many years, I have not read as positive a report on one for a long time.

I am sure we will have to buy the Celent report to find out whose PAS this is - therefore: is the PAS in use in the UK or when will we see it so ?

    Thanks and regards,

    John

  • I wish I could answer, but I am being very careful about not naming the vendor, down to the geography or line of business. The point of the post was more about technology advances and what to look for -- which is why I was so circumspect in details.

I'm working on more than one report, so can't even say which one!

  • We do, depending on the geography or the line of business. Feel free to reach out to me directly and I can get you to the correct analyst.

  • James,

Certainly respect your opinion of the analyst industry as a whole, but know that Celent's approach absolutely takes into account all the issues you describe. We understand that it isn't just a slick user interface, but the ability to implement and scale. Our reports are based on much more than a simple survey.

Our analyst are also very experienced. As an example, I have thirty years experience, much of it at vendors, then moving to the carrier side. I have been a carrier CIO and COO, and I have seen every major system on the market, including yours.

This post has been interesting and generated a lot of interest. A point I should have more clearly made is that there is no one system that is perfect for every insurer. There are many factors to consider during an evaluation.

    Thanks for the comment.
