Overview

SentiLink is a San Francisco based technology company focused on eliminating the $3B+ annual problem of synthetic identity fraud. Synthetic identity fraud is a type of fraud where a falsified or manipulated identity is used to open consumer and business financial services accounts. While this type of fraud causes large write offs for financial institutions, stopping synthetic fraud is about more than just preventing losses. Many synthetic identities go undetected for years and are used to fund criminal activity such as terrorism, illicit drug use, money laundering, and related activities. Preventing this type of financial crime can have a huge impact on reducing broader criminal schemes.

SentiLink offers several solutions that help banks, lenders, credit unions, fintechs, insurance companies, and telcos prevent synthetic fraud.

Synthetic Scores - SentiLink’s Synthetic Scores product indicates the likelihood that an identity is synthetic. Three scores are provided on every identity; an Abuse Score, First Party Synthetic Score, and Third Party Synthetic Score.

  • The Abuse Score is a composite synthetic fraud score that indicates whether an identity is likely synthetic. It includes instances where an applicant has been tied to synthetic fraud in the past (e.g. tied via address to other synthetic identities or has committed synthetic fraud previously).

  • The First Party Synthetic Score detects situations where an applicant is using their true name and date of birth, but a Social Security number (SSN) that doesn't belong to them. They are manipulating their true identity.

  • The Third Party Synthetic Score detects situations where an applicant is using a name, date of birth, and SSN combination that is completely fabricated. This is common among organized crime rings.

Synthetic Scores are made available to clients via API or a user-friendly Dashboard.

Manifest - Manifest is the identity data that drives the machine learning algorithm that generates SentiLink's Synthetic Scores. This dataset includes information from the credit bureau, utility records, the death master file as well as phone and email data. SentiLink enriches this identity data and makes it available in the Manifest product via API or the Dashboard. Clients can incorporate Manifest in their proprietary models or utilize the data in the Dashboard to investigate individual cases.

eCBSV - For the first time ever, it's possible to validate Social Security numbers with the Social Security Administration’s database of SSNs in real-time using eCBSV. SentiLink is one of five organizations chosen to be a distribution partner for the eCBSV pilot, and was the first company to successfully integrate with the SSA to offer this service to clients. With applicant consent, financial institutions can send their applicants’ names, dates of birth, and SSNs to SentiLink via API and receive a match or no-match response within milliseconds. This digital SSN verification is the most reliable way to validate an SSN. This service enables lenders who have historically required SSA-89 forms, such as mortgage lenders, to shave days off the loan origination process.
