Winner of Celent Model Insurer 2021 Award for Innovation Execution

Abstract

On-demand insurance has been one of the prime areas of interest within the insurtech community in recent years.

When MeCubro formed back at the start of 2018, the on-demand insurance market was nascent with few proven patterns to follow outside of auto or gadget insurance, and the range of commercial technology solutions available to insure customers on a pay-as-you-go basis was tinier still, especially when viewed from the vantage of Argentina. As a pioneer within the local market, MeCubro identified the opportunity for capturing a share of the growing market for individual personal accident insurance fueled by the gig economy, and local regulation making the cover a mandatory requirement.

This Model Insurer winner case study explores the approach taken, the technology used, and success factors from their perspective.
