2021 Vendor Spectrum, Powered by VendorMatch

Abstract

North American wealth managers will face a challenging year ahead as a result of volatile macro events, fee compression, and intergenerational wealth transfer. Like their European counterparts, COVID-19 will continue to play a critical role in shaping traditional advisory and operational models, which came under pressure at the height of the pandemic and work-from-home measures. Vendors providing the front-to-middle office platforms for these financial institutions (FIs) must deliver a solution that produces an exclusive client experience. There is a particular demand for the integration of modern point solutions into legacy systems; the marketplace is crowded with localized vendors.

In this report, Celent reviews North American (“NA”) Front-to-Middle Office platform providers, an update to the 2017 Front Office report:

·North American Wealth Management Technology Vendors: Evaluating Front Office Platforms

This report is also a complement to the 2020 EMEA Front-to-Middle Office platform report:

·Front-to-Middle Office Platforms: EMEA Wealth Management Edition: 2020 XCelent Awards Powered by VendorMatch

This report, the second of two, examines the leading North American vendors of Front-to-Middle Office platforms. The following vendors are included: Charles River, Equisoft, Finantix, InvestCloud, InvestCloud Financial Supermarket Division (formerly Tegra118), and Objectway. This study was completed prior to the announcement of the InvestCloud, Finantix, and Tegra118 integration. Other notable vendors in the space include Intellect Design, Refinitiv, and Temenos.

Originally, this report was intended to use the Celent ABCD Vendor View, which shows vendors' relative positions in the following categories: Advanced Technology, Breadth of Functionality, Client Base, and Depth of Client Services on two separate X/Y scales. However, due to market consolidation, the report is now a representation of the vendor landscape and announces notable mentions to commend the impressive work across the industry.
