Abstract

Celent recognizes BNY Mellon as the winner of Celent Model Bank 2020 Award For Payment Operations. Payments are the lifeblood of not just the bank but the economy itself. BNY Mellon processes $3.1 trillion a day. If something goes wrong, there are implications for everyone. As a result, while payment operations might not be considered the sexiest area of the bank, they could be considered one of the most important. Payment volumes are increasing, as are the speeds at which they are being processed. BNY Mellon realised they needed to respond to these demands, and to be able to detect (if not predict) issues as quickly as possible, across the entire payment lifecycle. In many banks, just tracing the payment end-to-end can be challenging.
