Celent’s Innovation Execution Awards don’t always look the technologies insurers are using, or their partnerships with insurtech firms. We consider the process of innovation, in which insurers produce results from their investments in innovation. Nan Shan Life, one of Taiwan's oldest insurers is a great example of innovation execution and one of the winners of Celent’s 2025 Innovation Execution Model Insurer awards.
Serving over 6.7 million policyholders, Nan Shan Life recognized the dynamic needs of its extensive customer base and a competitive market. In 2024, they implemented their Pioneering Program for Innovation in Digital Development Strategy and Governance.
Notably, it became Taiwan's first insurer to implement The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) standard. By integrating enterprise architecture with The Open Group’s T4IT methodology, Nan Shan Life established a dual-axis digital transformation framework encompassing 14 strategic action plans. This strategic move fostered enhanced collaboration across departments, spurred innovation, and improved operational efficiency.
