In the first part of this two-part report series we introduced agentic AI and highlighted the role of AI agents. In part two, we envision the impact of agentic AI in insurance, highlight probable use cases, and introduce the foundational concepts of AI agent orchestration. Based on current indicators, multi-agent agentic AI will provide insurers the opportunity to unlock new avenues for automating operations to a degree most couldn’t even fathom only a couple of years ago.
The insurance industry, traditionally reliant on legacy systems and historical data, is facing unprecedented pressure to innovate, driven by evolving customer expectations for speed and personalization, increasingly complex risk landscapes, and the ever-present threat of fraud. In this dynamic environment, AI agents are no longer a futuristic concept but a potential critical component of the future insurance workforce.
By leveraging their ability to perceive, reason, and act autonomously, AI agents can transform core insurance operations–from accelerating claims processing and enhancing underwriting accuracy to delivering hyper-personalized customer experiences and bolstering fraud detection capabilities–ultimately enabling carriers to achieve significant efficiencies, reduce costs, and gain a crucial competitive edge in a rapidly transforming market.
Why should insurers be investing in AI agents? What problems can they solve that previous iterations of AI could not? In essence, the need for AI agents arises from both the opportunity to create value and limitations of existing AI. This report explores the orchestration of agentic AI and the potential use cases and there impact across the insurance value chain.
