      REPORT
AI Culture and Staffing in Insurers
      7th August 2025
//AI Culture and Staffing in Insurers

Celent's library on AI and GenAI is extensive. We have considerable information on use cases, the vendors in the space, and more. Many of our model insurer winners this year were integrating AI into their environment.

Here we look at the impact of AI from a slightly different perspective. Before you can build your AI, you have to have staff to do it. Before you roll out your AI, you have to understand the impact on your company's culture. For both, you need an organization and oversight structure to ensure all goes well.

In the latest of our survey reports based on input from our Executive Panel, we look into these questions in the real world.

From a staffing perspective, questions like:

      • How fast are you growing AI talent?
      • How are you staffing the roles?
      • Are you finding enough talent?

Let's face it. Insurers are not seen through the same lens as the latest social media darling. There is a perception that insurers are stodgy and old school. How do insurers compete for talent?

The other side of implementing AI is the cultural impact. Not on those implementing it. On those that will use it. There is concern through insurers, from operations, to sales, to IT, and more that AI will replace them, not help them. In a series of questions we ask how insurers are dealing with this perception and ensuring it doesn't impact their staff.

Lastly, we look at how insurers are structuring their AI teams and how they are performing oversight.

AI is a generational change in the insurance industry. Insurers need to adapt and embrace AI to be competitive. Here we see how companies are actually doing just that.
