Tom has a dual role at Celent. He is part of Celent's nascent Health practice, initially focusing primarily on US payers. He is also an active member of the Life team, drawing on his Life background. His research focuses on operational best practices, real-world case studies and the application of vendor technology. His particular passion is to challenge insurers to move faster in innovation as well as operational and IT transformation. He also leads a broad range of consulting projects, such as transformation project health checks, Deep Dive strategies for both insurers and vendors, and a variety of system selection projects.

Tom has been in the industry for over 30 years. His early background was in the vendor space with roles ranging from technical, to implementation, to sales support, including leadership roles. More recently, he held senior leadership roles in the industry, including both COO and CIO at Crump Life insurance services, followed by the same roles at Transamerica Life insurance. Most recently he led a 500+ sales organization at insurtech startup Health IQ across Life, Medicare, and P&C.

He is a regular speaker at industry conferences. He holds his Bachelors in Computer Science from Rice University.
