It's proving to be a busy and exciting spring at Celent. In addition to cranking away at reports, the banking team is gearing up for conference season. Celent's 2010 Banking Innovation and Insight Day promises to be an engaging event. Celent will also be recognizing the Model Banks that were selected for inclusion in our annual report.
At Celent, much of my research focuses on the online world. The online world is constantly buzzing with new and innovative trends and activities. Among these are Facebook, Twitter, online communities, blogs, and other flavors of the day. Interacting with the dizzying array of social media and social networking options is a challenge-one that many consumers embrace, but banks struggle with. Banks have a lot of questions about social media, and many do not understand it or know how to approach it. Many banks, in fact, are still choosing to ignore social media; others are dabbling at it; and a few are going full force.
2010 will bring many new and exciting changes in how banks address the online channel. Whether banks like it or not, social media is part of the online world and must be addressed. The days of pushing data and information out to the consumer are over. It's now a two-way street, and banks should capitalize on the stream of data, information, and interactivity that is headed their way.
The online world is accelerating at a dizzying pace, and there are many exciting and innovative developments. We have several reports planned that address the online space, and look forward to helping you navigate the rapidly evolving online channel.
