Joséphine de Chazournes has expertise in fixed income and artificial intelligence that allows her to make the link between trading and post-trading – few people can bridge these two parts of the value chain that are more related than ever further to regulatory changes. When she's not busy enabling our clients to embrace quick and agile changes in technology, you'll find Joséphine testing olive oil (she's an official extra virgin olive oil taster) and singing karaoke with the girl-only group she set up in Milan.
WHERE ARE YOU FROM ORIGINALLY / WHERE DID YOU GROW UP?
I am French, grew up in Paris. I now live in Milan, Italy
Favorite Animal / Pets?
Horses to have fun, but I find tigers fascinating.
My kids have fresh water turtles but I travel so much I don’t want to have a pet that takes more time and care than them as I would not be able to dedicate it to them.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CITY/PLACE YOU’VE TRAVELED?
I love Berkeley, California, I think I would go back to studying just to be able to live there! It’s so easygoing and yet so enlightened as an environment, and students have amazing facilities.
Pruning trees and picking fruit: it is the most rewarding and gratifying thing of all when trees you have cared for provide.
FAVORITE BAND / MUSIC / SONG?
I have very commercial modern music tastes from David Guetta to go to the gym, to U2, and Coldplay – Coldplay is the official family music: one of the few bands we all like at home. I also love Baroque classical music though, not as mainstream I guess: Haendel tops it all.
FAVORITE FOOD DISH?
I am afraid to say: my mother’s foie gras or my mother-in-law’s melanzane alla parmigiana.
What advice would you give young professionals entering the industry?
You should not be afraid of having an opinion as long as you can back it up with good reasoning and nurture your network in a truthful and respectful way, it pays off in the long run.
What does being an analyst mean?
Analysts are key to providing fresh ideas. I try to have a 360-degree point of view on specific topics to bring clients another perspective on something they are interested in. For example, I have recently I looked at the sales assistants of the future that leverage AI for retail banking, private banking, corporate and institutional banking. Our clients usually look at just a small piece of the puzzle and thus it brings a different perspective, some oxygen to their thought process.
