Chinese online insurer ZhongAn completed the largest IPO of an insurtech firm, reportedly raising $1.5 billion on September 22, 2017.

ZhongAn offers business opportunities covering various areas, including Internet-based business and household property insurance, cargo insurance, liability insurance, and credit insurance. It is also well known for several reasons:

• The founders backing the initiative (Ping An, Tencent, and Alibaba).
• Having already written billions of insurance policies to hundreds of millions of clients since it was founded in 2013.
• The technology, and most specifically the platform, they have created to leverage the use of data, create a compelling customer experience, and easily integrate with its ecosystem.
