Interest in policy administration offerings for insurance has surged in recent months, and a number of systems have emerged in the past few years. Celent profiles a majority of the life and pension insurance administration systems available in Europe today.

In a new report, European Policy Administration Systems 2009: Life and Pension ABCD Vendor View, Celent looks at policy administration systems available to life insurers in Europe. The report is part of a series on policy administration systems (PAS) in Europe, the United States, and Asia.

"The European IT vendor landscape has become increasingly difficult to navigate,” says Nicolas Michellod, senior analyst with Celent’s Insurance Group and author of the report. "Prioritizing decision elements is a crucial task in order to minimize the risk of choosing an inappropriate PAS and avoid facing time-consuming and expensive customization efforts."

Celent profiles 37 policy administration systems vendors in Europe, with 22 full profiles and 15 limited profiles, using its ABCD Vendor View, which is a standard representation of a vendor marketplace designed to show at a glance the relative positions of each vendor in four categories: Advanced technology, Breadth of functionality, Customer base, and Depth of client services.
