Winner of Celent Model Bank 2021 Award for Retail Payments

Abstract

Utah Community Credit Union (UCCU) was the first financial institution to implement Ondot’s Card App, which provides UCCU customers with an easy and intuitive way to use and manage their digital credit and debit cards while improving efficiency for the credit union.

Large banks and technology giants have been investing heavily into creating superior digital experiences for their customers. Solutions like Apple Card or mobile banking apps from the largest financial institutions are setting the standard that all customers expect from their providers. Small institutions that don’t have the same resources are at risk of being left behind and need to be creative just to “get a seat at the same table.”

UCCU demonstrated such creativity by partnering with Ondot Systems to help shape the Card App solution and becoming the first financial institution to implement Card App. As a result, UCCU can offer its customers rich digital experiences, comparable to those of the leading providers. UCCU’s approach shows that by partnering even the smallest financial institutions can effectively compete with those with much larger resources, and attract a young and tech-savvy member base while serving the needs of the entire community. It is a deserving winner of Celent Model Bank 2021 award for Retail Payments.
