IndusInd Bank was struggling to cope with the hypergrowth that Indian payments are seeing, with one system, UPI, growing nationally 14 billion transactions in just a single year. Realising that it needed to prepare for even greater volumes, the bank started an ambitious leading edge payments hub project. They used TCS BaNCS for Payments installed in the cloud, and used agile delivery techniques to migrate functions into the cloud as microservices. Many of the features are firsts for an Indian bank; together, the cloud first approach may well a first globally.
