Tokenization represents a new business strategy, method of raising finance, and means of liquidity. However, tokenization's enduring impact on business strategy will pose interesting challenges given the open source nature of the token economy.

Key research questions

  • What is an open source ecosystem?
  • What is the impact of open source on generating sustainable competitive advantage?
  • What are Enterprise Tokens?

Abstract

In an open source economy, it is not possible to compete with code alone.

Consequently, Enterprise Tokens, which are part-corporation and part-crypto, will offer an interesting and compelling new chapter in the rapidly evolving story of digital assets.

Open source innovation is incredibly powerful and has its roots in Web 1.0 and the foundations of the modern internet.

As corporations and financial institutions increasingly engage with the token economy, how will its open source ethos interact with the commercial imperative of driving sustainable competitive advantage?
