      Celent Insurance Newsletter, September 2010

      15 September 2010
      //Celent Insurance Newsletter, September 2010

      From the Senior Vice President

      If you have ever watched thoroughbred horse racing, you know that the real action takes place in the final quarter mile. You can't begin to get excited until the race announcer bellows, "Down the stretch they come!"

      That's how most of us work: with the calendar in mind. It's after Labor Day, so we're definitely on the home stretch of 2010. But there's one big difference between what we all do and a horse race: in real life, whenever we feel like we're about to reach the finish line, it moves out a few furlongs. Surviving the competitive pressures of the insurance industry means constantly looking forward as the bar on performance is raised.

      The Celent insurance team is here to help you look ahead to your next challenge. As we streak through Q4, here are some highlights:

      We're pleased to welcome Benjamin Moreland on board as a senior analyst. Ben brings a wealth of experience around SOA and insurance architecture, and you'll see a report from him on those topics shortly.

      Our CIO/CTO survey is about to kick off. While there will be some similarity with previous versions, we're also updating it to focus on emerging topics for 2011. If you'd like to attend our annual New York CIO event, block off February 11, 2011 on your calendar.

      We've also got Model Insurer going, on two tracks. Our Asia version is closing out (still not too late for submissions!), and our regular annual version is about to kick off. You'll hear from the Model Insurer Czar, Mike Fitzgerald, on that.

      The team is presenting at a number of industry conferences in Q4. (See our Events page for more information). If you're going to be attending any of these, let us know-we'd love to set up a chat.

      In the spirit of continuous improvement, we'll be seeking your feedback shortly on Celent's services via an online survey. Whether you're a current client, or about to become one, we'd like to hear from you.

      Please let me know if we can assist you in your stretch run, or as you get out of the gate in 2011.
