Today, we are pleased to announce our first data center in Melbourne, Australia.

Melbourne is Australia’s second largest economy after Sydney and we understand that it is an important market for many of our customers who require premium data center and colocation services:

  • Access to global ecosystems with over 4,400 customers and partners inside Equinix IBX®data centers
  • A full range of colocation, interconnection, support and monitoring services through Platform Equinix™
  • 99.999% availability and industry-leading security
  • Operational expertise, standards compliance, and world-class physical security to safeguard your valuable information

The site of our new IBX data center, ME1, is close to the Central Business District in Port Melbourne and will provide capacity of 1500 cabinets. The first phase of 375 cabinets will be completed in Q4 2014. Equinix Australia already has three data centers in Sydney and our expansion into Melbourne will address the high demand for data center services. We have strong business ecosystems in Financial Services, Cloud, Digital Content, Enterprises and Network. The launch of ME1 adds significant capacity, further demonstrating Equinix’s commitment to fostering data center development in Australia and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
