Abstract

Celent researches the usage of Software as a Service (SaaS) and plans for the future.

In the report SaaS: Still Not for Everyone, Celent refreshes research conducted in 2004 and 2010. In this report, Celent provides side-by-side comparisons to the data from the report Approaching the Boiling Point: BPO, SaaS in Insurance published in 2010. This report is a companion to BPO Cools to a Simmer.

This is a light analysis, with two questions that were asked as part of the BPO report. The questions focused on:

  • View on the use of SaaS
  • Impediments to the implementation of SaaS

“There seems to be a big disconnect between discussions we have with insurers. They talk about a desire to move to a variable cost model, but in action, they are still slow to adopt SaaS,” says Tom Scales, a research director with Celent’s Insurance practice and author of the report. “This may be a result of a desire to future-proof a new system selection.”
