Until
recently, many vendors marketed vaporware, having released only a limited
number of web-based modules. Today, most vendors are able to point to
numerous live installations, running an entire suite of corporate Internet
banking products.
According
to Meredith Hickman,
co-author of the report, this is 'the year for unparalleled growth in
the browser-based corporate banking market. Projects that were put on hold
for Y2K preparation have resumed and there is a flurry of new activity.'
With the market heating up, basic corporate Internet banking solutions are
already becoming commoditized. To maintain a strategic advantage,
financial institutions must deploy new, value-added services. The report
also details future industry trends that banks will need to remain
competitive as well as the vendors' strategies going forward.
